10 Tips to Maximize Your Pantry Space with Container Store

Well hey y’all!! HOWDY! Its time peeps! Time to share my 10 tips to maximize your pantry space with Container Store. If you have been here a while, you know I worked with Container Store to organize my sons dorm room in college. Feel free to check it out here. It was such a blast! I know it made his life easier with the transition from home to college life.

So, I digress, ARGH! LOL

My pantry is ridiculous! LIKE LITERALLY RIDICULOUS! LOOK!

And can someone explain to me why we have 2 syrup bottles open at the same time? ARGH!

Anywho, to give you the background, our home was built in 1979 and I guess back then people didn’t eat. LOL! Because, if they did, I have no idea where they put their food. Well, short of blowing up the kitchen and remodeling (which I’m dying to do) I decided it was time to get things organized so I can use the little space I have in a much more helpful way.

TIP #1: Set a budget. I knew I wanted to organize this space but I didn’t want it to cost an arm and a leg. I budgeted $200 for this whole pantry redo. Now, I know $200 seems pricey, but the bins will last a lifetime. It is the initial setup that costs the most. Now, if I ever need to add a piece or whatever, it won’t be a big expense.

TIP #2: Measure your space. Before I went to purchase all of my bins, I got out the measuring tape and measured each cabinet. With the divider in the middle, I needed to make sure the bins would fit correctly.

TIP #3: Clear out the space or spaces you are going to organize.

I took every single thing out of my pantry and two drawers before I began.

TIP #4: Bleach the cabinets out to start with a fresh slate.

TIP #5: Line the cabinets with shelf paper or peel and stick wall paper. I got the marble peel and stick from Target. To me, it just made the space look a little less drab.

TIP #6: Purchase labels. I bought my labels on Amazon from the Talented Kitchen. I wanted them to be white and simple. I love the ones she makes and there were so many more to choose from.

TIP #7: Purchase spice jars for uniformity. I have been wanting to do this forever but just never got around to it. It took my daughter 2 hours to move all the spices from their original container to the new ones but I love how it turned out. Any leftover spices I had, I put them in the bottom of the pantry in bins.

TIP #8: Place the bins in the space before adding any food items back in. I played around with them and moved them until I felt like it was a good fit for each of them.

TIP #9: Place all the items in the pantry and stand back and see if it all appears functional. I had originally had our cereal way down at the bottom and it was such a pain bending down everyday to get cereal. Now, I have it at the top of the pantry and that makes it more functional for our family.

TIP #10: When making a spice drawer, purchase a YouCopia Spice Liner Roll. This is the best invention EVER!!! I had no idea how much I was going to love it until we got it installed. It keeps your spices from rolling around. GENIUS!

Doing the spice drawer allowed me the extra space I needed in the pantry for other food items. And, again, I LOVE how it turned out! What do you think?

Here are the before and afters of each space. At the bottom of this post I will link all of the items I used in the organization process. Container Store has so many amazing products and makes organizing any space a breeze.
